100 companies to take part in the third Go Mobility by MUBIL, 22% more than in 2020

  • 56% of the exhibitor companies are from outside the Basque Autonomous Community and from Europe
  • The sustainable mobility industry trade show organised by MUBIL and backed by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and the Basque Government will be held on April 27 and 28 at Ficoba

A month before its start date, Go Mobility by MUBIL, Southern Europe’s sustainable mobility industry trade show, has already sold out all its exhibition space. The 100 exhibiting companies are set to showcase their products and services for clean, accessible, safe and connected sustainable mobility at Ficoba’s three pavilions and in the outdoor exhibition area, where the product demonstrations and vehicle test drives for visitors will take place. The exhibition space will total 12,000 m2 .

The trade show is set to be held for the third time under the slogan “The Present and Future of Sustainable Mobility” on 27 and 28 April 2022 at the Ficoba Trade Show Venue in Irun. This industrial fair is promoted by the MUBIL Foundation, created as part of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council’s Etorkizuna Eraikiz project and organised by the Provincial Council in collaboration with Ficoba, and with backing from both the provincial body and the Basque Government it will bring together all the actors in the new mobility value chain.

The third Go Mobility by MUBIL will showcase the latest market developments from a dual perspective – industrial and digital – with the aim of continuing to be a meeting point promoting high value-added exchanges, fostering innovative projects and boosting the region’s industrial transformation. The wide spectrum of exhibitors and visitors will include both public and private actors seeking to encourage collaboration and coordination to meet the challenges of new mobility.

This was announced today at the presentation given by the Delegate for Economic Development and Strategic Projects Jabier Larrañaga, the Director of the Basque Energy Board Iñigo Ansola, the Director of MUBIL Ane Insausti and the Trade Show Director Monica Alday.

As announced, the sales of exhibition space were excellent, closing with 22% more exhibitor companies than at the 2022 show. Also, 44% of the companies that participated in the second Go Mobility by MUBIL are set to attend again this year.

As to the companies’ origin, the show has a clear attraction for exhibitors from outside the Basque Autonomous Community. The figures show that 29% are from Gipuzkoa province, 14% from the provinces of Araba and Bizkaia, 44% from the rest of Spain and 13% from European countries such as Germany, France, Italy and Portugal.

These figures reinforce Go Mobility by MUBIL’s track record, as despite only being held for the third time it has succeeded in becoming a benchmark event in southern Europe for all the sustainable mobility ecosystem actors. Its attraction is further enhanced by upcoming laws that will smooth the way towards sustainable mobility, meaning decisions must now be made by many stakeholders, from institutions and major operators to individual private users. The market perception of the third Go Mobility by MUBIL is that it is now more necessary than ever.

Visitors attending Go Mobility by MUBIL will find a large variety of exhibitor companies representing the entire sustainable mobility value chain. Some exhibitors of interest this year are comprehensive sustainable mobility solution companies, connected and/or shared mobility solutions, charging infrastructures, component manufacturers and start-ups, energy storage, consultancy firms, technology and research centres, ICTs, intelligent transport system (ITS) providers, tram, bus and car manufacturers, administration and institutions, personal mobility vehicle manufacturers, clusters, incubators and associations, engineering companies, universities and vocational training.

A trade show with an informative spirit

The presentation programme is another of Go Mobility by MUBIL’s points of attraction, especially at a time when the energy debate and sustainability are hot topics.

Go Mobility by MUBIL will be attended by top international experts such as María Tsavachidis, the CEO of EIT Urban Mobility, a European knowledge and innovation community to accelerate the transition towards sustainable urban mobility and liveable urban spaces, or Carlos Moreno, the French-Colombian urbanologist and senior university professor who directs the Sorbonne University’s ETI (Entrepreneurship, Territory, Innovation) programme, one of the world’s top experts in smart cities and promotor of the “15-minute city / 30-minute territory” project, which advocates an urban reconfiguration where hyper-proximity is the key to improving quality of life, among other aspects.

In total there will be 8 presentations and 3 round table debates, addressing issues such as disruptive innovation in mobility, the challenges of employment and training in automation for the twenty-first century or how the electric battery value chain drives sustainable development.

These information activities will be completed by the 40 technical presentations scheduled at Exhibitor’s Corner, where the exhibiting companies get the chance to speak about their products and innovations.

There will also be the City Market Place, a meeting point for European cities with specific sustainable mobility-related challenges and companies offering products, services and solutions to address them, with the participation of Pamplona-Iruña, San Sebastián-Donostia, Málaga, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Irun, the metropolitan area of Barcelona and Braga. Additionally, Go Mobility by MUBIL has reserved an exhibition area for posters showcasing European sustainable mobility projects.

A Test Drive Area has also been set up outside the Ficoba Trade Show Venue to view and test drive vehicles, with a 7000 m2 closed circuit. The full agenda can be viewed at www.gomobility.eus

Attracting investment

One of the main aims of Go Mobility by MUBIL is to generate a market. A major effort is therefore made to attract buyers from Spain and abroad intending to invest in these sectors in the next 24 months. Attendance has been confirmed by approximately 17 hosted buyers: professional visitors from both public and private enterprises who will have their own tailored agenda during the trade fair, holding at least 3 meetings with exhibitors of interest.
